An almost summer day in warmth, the characteristic breeze of a seaside town. So began November 6, 2005 for those who shared the joy of the feast day of the parish in honour of the icon of the Mother of God "The Joy of All Who Sorrow". And then His Grace, Archbishop Hilarion, who came for the festivities was greeted, the liturgy took place, performed in conjunction with archpriest Nicholas Karipov, archpriest Nicholas De Carlton, priest Simeon Kichakov, Protodeacon Basil Kozulin and Deacon Alexander Abramov.
Archbishop Hilarion not only has congratulated all those present on the feast day in his sermon, but also reminded them that the icon "Joy of All Who Sorrow" first became famous in 1688, in Moscow, in the Transfiguration-Joy of All Who Sorrow church on the Ordynka, with the healing of the sister of Patriarch Joachim, Euphemia, who suffered from a wound in her side, quoted the words about the Heavenly Queen, the Defender of Orthodox believers.
The procession around the church took place in the attendance of archpriest Michael Protopopov, who has attended the feast day after the conclusion of the divine service in the church of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos.
After the kissing of the Cross, all attendees of the divine service were invited to the church hall for the celebratory luncheon. In the hall, archpriest Michael Protopopov congratulated everyone on the feast day and invited them to divine services at the Russian Orthodox parish in Warnambool. Words of congratulation were also said by archpriest Nicholas Karipov, who also said that the parish of the Joy of All Who Sorrow requires the support of other parishes in holding the 41st Conference of Russian Orthodox Youth. The parish priest, Simeon Kichakov, then congratulated clergy, visitors and parishioners of the parish of the Joy of All Who Sorrow. In the address, father Simeon especially emphasised that the parish of the Joy of All Who Sorrow is organising the 41st Conference of Russian Orthodox Youth and that all funds raised from any event that takes place in the parish are directed towards it. Besides, father Simeon asked for financial assistance to the organisers of the conference as it is difficult for a small parish to cover all expenses independently. This address found a warm response from the attendees. $1,742.50 was raised for the conference.
November 6, 2005 became a memorable day for the parish also His Eminence, Archbishop Hilarion blessed the launch of the parish website.
